We are passionate podcast listeners at Shine (check out our latest recommendations below), but like every other channel, podcasts are evolving as quickly as the news media environment. So, if they’re part of your communications and marketing mix, you need to evolve just as quickly.
Jacky jumped at the chance to join a recent PRINZ webinar about the latest development in the “podverse” and came away with some fantastic insights from Red Nine Studios’ Andy Rowe.
- YouTube is the most preferred podcast platform in the United States, with approximately 31-33% of weekly and monthly listeners. This is followed by Spotify with about 27% and Apple Podcasts with between 14 and 15% of listeners
- As a result, if you’re podcasting, you need to film it at the same time – both for release on YouTube, and for repurposing for social, pānui, media releases and more
- Podcasting is the fastest-growing global media channel
- Podcast audiences are loyal and engaged, with a higher level of trust and attention – largely due to the long-form nature of the medium; podcasts have a higher brand recall than traditional advertising
- A podcast is just one tool in your integrated marketing and communications mix
