Multimillion-dollar facelift brings new spark to Rotorua hotel stalwart

Millennium Hotel Rotorua recently completed the first stage of its multimillion-dollar refurbishment, delivering 99 revamped rooms that offer guests a fresh and modern stay experience.

This is the largest rooms refurbishment at the hotel in almost 20 years, reflecting its long-standing tradition of excellence and the local team’s vision for the future.

The look and feel of each space has been meticulously chosen by the Millennium Rotorua team to ensure a welcoming aesthetic that meets the needs of group tours, conference guests, corporate and leisure travellers.

Guests can now enjoy updated bathrooms with new walk-in showers that benefit from a geothermally heated water system, New Zealand-made cedar hot tubs in deluxe rooms, and luxurious touches such as 100 per cent NZ wool throws on the beds.

The burnt orange and azure blue colour accents in each room take inspiration from the volcanic and lake tones Rotorua is renowned for.

Floor-to-ceiling photo panels in every room serve to showcase the events, attractions, and landscapes unique to our rohe.

Throughout the refurbishment, Millennium Hotel Rotorua has prioritised local contractors and designed the rooms with sustainability in mind.

This includes reducing plastic use with big bottle amenities, introducing clearly marked recycling bins and repurposing material where possible during construction.

Phase two, which will see the remaining 129 rooms refurbished, is set to begin next month.
