Six New Zealand homes have been announced as finalists in this year’s prestigious Lockwood House of the Year competition.
From a family home with enviable views to a tranquil rural retreat, this year’s competition celebrates the very best Lockwood ‘design and build’ homes built in 2021.
Each house in the competition is selected based on its level of craftmanship, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. They are then put though a rigorous selection process by Lockwood’s in-house design, technical, and marketing teams.
Lockwood Homes Managing Director Andrew, La Grouw, says the standard of this year’s finalists is exceptional.
“More than 50 Lockwood homes have been built around the country so far in 2021, so selecting just six homes was a difficult task. However, the design and construction calibre of the finalists’ homes is outstanding.
“The homes that have been selected as finalists embody our ‘designed for good’ philosophy, with every aspect of each of the homes reflecting the owners’ lifestyle and personality.
“With Lockwood’s design and build offering, customers can fully customise their home to suit their unique preferences and tastes, and for each of the finalists, that is exactly what each of the homes reflect,” Andrew says.

Established in 2017, this is the second year the awards have been open for public voting, rather than keeping the competition in-house.
“We love seeing which homes resonate with the public, while also showcasing the beautiful designs that Lockwood has to offer,” Andrew says.
Founded in Rotorua in 1951 by two Dutch immigrants, Lockwood Homes are national treasures – and for 70 years they have been part of the fabric of our country.
To celebrate Lockwood’s 70th birthday this year, anyone who votes in the Lockwood House of the Year competition will go into the draw to win a Smeg kitchen appliance package.
