Smashing your goals in 2021!

With the year rolling on, there’s been plenty of discussion in our offices so far this year about the art of goal setting.

From templates, journals and apps, there’s a myriad of ways to record the things you want to achieve if you’re that way inclined (winging it is a completely valid option too!).

From money to health and all things in between, for many of us simply finding and setting aside the time to work on the things we want to achieve can be a justifiable goal in itself!

For many of us in the office, setting goals to improve our fitness levels seems to be a common theme. Ally and Jacky have this month completed the Tarawera Ultra, walking 50km and 21km respectively.

Here’s some of their tips for making goal setting realistic.

Goal setting tips

  • Make a concerted effort to do bits of exercise that you enjoy every week, then every day and once you’ve got yourself into a rhythm, you’ll find motivation easier.
  • Break your big goals down into mini-goals to make them more achievable.
  • Create an accountability partnership (a friend who wants to reach the same goal or a similar one) where you promise to check in on how each other is doing at least once a week.
  • Set a reward for when you reach the finish line!
